Changing your desktop background picture.

scrndmp3People often want to put a family photo or a picture of a pet on their desktop as a background. This one is of my Fox Terrier lady who is called “Whiskey”. The first thing to consider when doing this is what screen resolution you are using on your computer. The most commonly used these days is 800 x 600 which is the format used for Internet Web Pages in most cases .

Bearing this in mind, you need to decide how big you want the picture to appear on your screen. For instance, a postcard sized photo would be about 450 x 300 and would be a good starting point. Get a photograph and hold it on the screen to get an idea of how it would look. Use that as a guide for setting the size you want for your picture.

Of course you need to have a scanner or a friend who can scan your photograph or picture for you.
