Sometimes you need a character that just isn’t on the keyboard,
like the English Pound symbol ( £ ) for instance.
Here are a few of those characters and the method to get them into your document or e-mail……
These additional characters can be created by using the ALT key and a combination of numbers from the numeric keypad.
NOTE: You have to press and hold down the ALT key whilst entering these numbers. The character will appear once the four numbers have been entered and the ALT key released.
ALT 0162 = Cent ( ¢ )
ALT 0163 = English Pound ( £ )
ALT 0165 = Japanese Yen ( ¥ )
ALT 0169 = Copyright ( © )
ALT 0174 = Registered Trademark ( ® )
ALT 0188 = One quarter ( ¼ )
ALT 0189 = One half ( ½ )
ALT 0190 = Three quarters ( ¾ )
ALT 0191 = Upsidedown ? ( ¿ ) used in Spanish language
ALT 0176 = Degrees ( ° )
ALT 0181 = Micro ( µ )
ALT 0182 = Paragraph sign ( ¶ )
